Starlink seeks community hosts to sell hourly, weekly internet passes
Starlink has begun laying the groundwork for a program that would let individuals or businesses resell access to its satellite broadband service in short increments, including passes lasting as little as one hour. A new “Starlink for communities” page on the company’s website invites applicants to become hosts. Under the model described, a host would install a single Starlink kit at a location with several nearby homes or users, and those users would buy passes rather than subscribing on their own. Starlink said it will manage payments, user access, and connectivity, while hosts would handle site setup and earn revenue from each connection. The page lists four pass types. Hour, day, and week passes each cover one Starlink device, while a month pass covers up to four devices. No pricing is listed, and the page notes that referenced speeds are maximums that are not guaranteed and will drop during congestion. Hosts can expand coverage by adding Starlink routers or more kits.
