Colorado BEAD Final Proposal Approved
The Colorado Broadband Office is thrilled to announce that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration has officially approved Colorado’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Final Proposal.
This pivotal decision unlocks $420.6 million in federal funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for our broadband infrastructure. This historic investment means that high-speed internet is finally on its way to more than 96,000 Coloradans. This approval from the NTIA is the culmination of years of intensive planning and application processes. This is more than just funding; it's a direct investment in the future of our communities. This strategic deployment is crucial for closing Colorado's digital divide and directly supports the Governor's Executive Order to connect 99 percent of all Coloradans to high-speed internet. The Final Proposal utilizes a mix of technologies to address Colorado's unique geography:
- 48 percent will receive Fiber: The fastest, most reliable technology, prioritized where feasible.
- 50 percent will be connected via Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite: Critical for the most difficult-to-build mountainous and rural terrain.
- 2 percent will be funded for Wireless Providers.
