TDS Telecommunications has launched faster internet speeds for customers in Neillsville, Medford, Mosinee, and Junction City, marking the first phase of multi-year broadband upgrade projects in each central Wisconsin community. The projects are now delivering speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps (1 Gig), depending on location. The high-speed data infrastructure upgrades are supported, in part, by the Federal Communications Commission’s Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model program.

TDS Telecommunications marked the start of the second phase of its Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model broadband expansion in Dane County (WI) with a ceremonial groundbreaking June 2 in the Town of Perry. TDS representatives were joined by Sen Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) and Rep. Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) as well as Jaron McCallum, Dane County Broadband Coordinator. E-ACAM is a federal broadband program that supports deployment of broadband internet services in rural areas.

TDS Telecommunications, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc, has entered into a purchase agreement with Granite State Communications to transfer ownership of the independent phone company’s fiber optic and voice operations. The acquisition combines two highly respected, adjacent internet providers in New Hampshire and is expected to close within the third quarter of 2026. As a result of the acquisition, TDS Telecom will gain more than 11,000 fiber service addresses.

TDS Telecommunications is kicking off work on a major network upgrade project to expand access to high-speed internet connections to its rural customers in Wood County (WI). All TDS-served addresses in the county, including the areas of Arpin, Auburndale, Babcock, Hansen, Lincoln, Pittsville, Remington, Richfield, and more, will be included in the upgrade plans. Construction will kick off this year and extend until at least 2028. This year’s plans call for installing nearly 400 miles of high-speed infrastructure to connect more than 3,500 addresses.

TDS Telecommunications has broken ground on a new fiber-optic infrastructure project to connect more than 1,200 rural Grant County (WI) addresses.

TDS Telecommunications is providing free upgrades to Central Oregon customers’ internet speeds as part of a major investment in the community and its local network. Homes and businesses in Bend and throughout the region will soon have speeds up to 1 Gig—at no additional cost. Customers will have access to lightning-fast internet speeds, allowing users to more easily do remote work or school, virtual doctor appointments, video conferences, online shopping, and a wide variety of other tasks.

TDS Telecommunications will upgrade internet speeds across its entire Maine service footprint after electing to receive Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model (E-ACAM) support. TDS has been doing business in Maine since 1971 and serves more than 30 communities in the state.

TDS elected to receive Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model (E-ACAM) support from the Federal Communications Commission. TDS has communicated to the FCC the company will accept the FCC's offers in 24 states TDS serves. A-CAM, which is being extended and enhanced to provide additional funding for rural broadband, requires the deployment of at least 100/20 Mbps internet service to consumers who lack that service. TDS has been part of the A-CAM program since its inception in 2016. The extended program requires TDS to deploy high-speed internet to more than 270,000 locations.
