New America Announces Leadership Transition

New America announced  that Anne-Marie Slaughter will step down as CEO of the organization, after more than a decade in the role. She will become Dean of the School of Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science, effective February 2027. Slaughter will remain in her current position at New America through June 30, 2026. Paul Butler, New America’s President and Chief Transformation Officer, will serve as Interim CEO, effective July 1, 2026. Slaughter will transition to a new role at New America as a Senior Advisor, in which she will continue to provide strategic insight and policy counsel to the organization through the end of 2026. New America’s Board of Directors will oversee the transition process, and Monica C. Lozano, Vice Chair of the Board, will manage the search process for New America’s permanent CEO
