Las Vegas City Schools Becomes Latest District Connected with Statewide Education Network

The New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion announced today that Las Vegas City Schools has become the latest public school district in New Mexico to be operational with the Statewide Education Network’s school-centric high-speed internet system. All 5 schools and the district’s Early Childhood Center are now connected to more secure internet through the broadband system. The SEN connection means that more than 1,000 students and nearly 400 teachers and staff in LVCS have access to the broadband Network. The SEN, which launched in July 2024, is a comprehensive statewide broadband network that aims to link public schools with their own school-centric high-speed internet across New Mexico. It will eventually allow students to share classes and resources throughout their district and beyond. State officials say that through SEN, students could collaborate, share courses, clubs and more secure sites that could help them address social and health issues.
