Federal Communications Commissioner Trusty Delivers Remarks at CCA Annual Meeting

Build America Agenda into meaningful wins for U.S. businesses and consumers. First, we are working to create a regulatory environment that empowers you, the private sector, to build and innovate. Through the Chairman’s “Delete, Delete, Delete” initiative, the Commission is eliminating obsolete rules, from outdated telegraph provisions to regulations tied to expired deadlines. We are also taking a hard look at rules that impose unnecessary costs without serving the public interest. Second, we are making more spectrum available for commercial use. As the invisible foundation of our digital economy, a bold spectrum policy is vital to America’s prosperity in the Information Age. Thanks to President Trump and Congress, the FCC’s auction authority is restored, and we now have a long-term pipeline of 800 megahertz of mid-band spectrum, prime real estate for mobile broadband. Third, connecting all Americans requires networks that are secure by design. National security cannot be an afterthought. Finally, universal connectivity remains the central goal. The Supreme Court recently reinforced Congress’s intent that the Communications Act supports universal service for rural areas, lowincome consumers, and schools and libraries.
