Google launches a lawsuit targeting text message scammers

If you have a mobile phone, you have no doubt seen some dodgy texts. They might declare that you have an overdue road toll, and urge you to "Click here to pay." Or maybe they inform you that there's a package waiting, but the address is wrong; "Click here to fix it."More often than not, these texts are scams. The websites you are directed to are fakes, often decked out with a misappropriated Google logo to trick you into typing in sensitive payment or sign-in information. It's called a "phishing" attack—or "smishing" when it's done via SMS. And now Google has had it with scammers.

How people really use ChatGPT, according to 47,000 conversations shared online

More than 800 million people use ChatGPT each week, according to its maker OpenAI, but their conversations with the artificial intelligence chatbot are private. Unlike for social media apps there’s little way for those outside the company to know how people use the service — or what ChatGPT says to them. A collection of 47,000 publicly shared ChatGPT conversations compiled by The Washington Post sheds light on the reasons people turn to the chatbot and the deeply intimate role it plays in many lives.

Senate Clears Agriculture Bill With $109 Million for Rural Broadband

The Senate voted 60-40 on November 10 to pass a continuing resolution that would reopen the government, plus some appropriations bills. One of the pieces of legislation would provide about $109 million for rural broadband programs. The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) ReConnect program would see $50,750,000 of that.
