President Trump signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum empowering Federal law enforcement to use cyber tools to disrupt transnational criminal organizations that operate in foreign jurisdictions to attack Americans. 

President Trump nominated Danielle Thumann Severs, of North Carolina, to be a Member of the Federal Communications Commission for a term of five years from July 1, 2024. She currently serves as senior counsel to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. If her nomination is confirmed, it would give Republicans a 3-1 advantage at the FCC (with one remaining seat still unfilled).

President Donald Trump nominated D. Adam Candeub, of the District of Columbia, to be an Assistant Attorney General. Candeub has served as the General Counsel of the Federal Communications Commission since January 2025. Since 2004, Candeub worked as a professor of law at Michigan State University where he focused on competition, regulatory, and antitrust matters. Previously, he served in government at both the Commerce Department and Justice Department.

President Trump’s bold vision to secure and accelerate American artificial intelligence (AI) innovation is being actioned through the creation of “GOLD EAGLE,” a clearinghouse that enables unprecedented cybersecurity vulnerability coordination. Open-source software partners and American critical infrastructure companies built a coordinated system to receive and patch cyber vulnerabilities at a speed and scale never seen before using the existing authorities and resources of the federal government.
