Louisiana hits NEPA milestone, clearing the path to broadband for nearly 25k serviceable locations

Louisiana has reached another significant milestone in its effort to deliver high-speed internet access across the state by completing National Environmental Policy Act review for broadband projects covering nearly 25,000 serviceable locations. As the first state in the nation to complete NEPA approvals for Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment projects, Louisiana's BEAD providers have made notable progress toward bringing reliable, high-speed internet to unserved and underserved communities across the state. These projects are made possible through Louisiana's GUMBO 2.0 program backed by the federal BEAD program, under Benefit of the Bargain, a 2025 National Telecommunications and Information Administration initiative that prioritized fast, cost-effective deployment to maximize public investment.
