FCC Plan for Orderly Shutdown Due to Lapse of Congressional Appropriation

The Federal Communications Commission plans to remain open for a period of time using carryover funds while Congress works to address the lapse in funding. Depending on the duration of the lapse in funding, the FCC may then pivot to a shutdown. When this shutdown plan is activated, all FCC employees are instructed to follow written guidance from the Commission based on how long prior year funds will be made available to continue agency operations during a lapse. Once or if prior year funds are exhausted during a lapse in appropriations, all FCC employees will be instructed when conducting an orderly shutdown of operations will be required.
