AT&T's 'OneConnect' puts cable in the crosshairs
AT&T is leaning harder into convergence and taking a shot at its cable competition with "OneConnect," a mix of flat-fee bundles that combines the company's gigabit-class fiber service with mobile. AT&T claims that customers can sign up for the new, simplified offering, which includes fiber speeds up to 1 Gigabit/s and bundles in connectivity for wearables and tablets, in "under five minutes." The mobile side of the bundled subscription includes unlimited voice, text, and data, and supports a bring-your-own-device model using eSIM technology. AT&T OneConnect starts at $90 per month for an individual account, and it bakes in discounts as customers add more lines to the account.
