SpaceX to buy EchoStar's AWS-3 spectrum licenses for $2.6 billion

SpaceX is acquiring EchoStar’s AWS-3 licenses for about $2.6 billion in SpaceX stock. This is on top of the 2 GHz/AWS-4 spectrum that SpaceX agreed to buy from EchoStar for $17 billion in September. That spectrum is geared for mobile satellite services, whereas the AWS-3 spectrum is designated for terrestrial use. So far, SpaceX hasn’t said what it plans to do with the AWS-3 spectrum licenses, and the sale still must pass regulatory approvals.

Altice USA Reports Third Quarter 2025 Results

ALtice USA reported financial results for the third quarter of 2025. Highlights include:

Sen Ernst Drafts Bill to Clawback BEAD Funding

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) has drafted a bill—the Recovering Excess Communications Appropriations while Protecting Telecommunications Upgrades, Reinvestment, and Expansion Act or the ‘RECAPTURE Act—that would amend the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to require remaining funds under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program to be used for deficit reduction. The RECAPTURE Act would change a section of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that redirects unused state BEAD funds to other states.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Recovering Excess Communications Appropriations while Protecting Telecommunications Upgrades, Reinvestment, and Expansion Act’’ or the ‘‘RECAPTURE Act’’.
