As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more embedded in everyday life, public opinion is playing a growing role in shaping how policymakers respond to the technology’s rapid development. Are Americans hopeful about AI’s potential or wary of unintended consequences? Which sectors do they trust AI to transform, and where do they want more guardrails?
In 2021, New York passed the Affordable Broadband Act (ABA), requiring internet providers to offer high-speed broadband to lower-income households for as little as $15 per month.
Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Nathan A. Simington announced a series of staff appointments made in March and April 2025, including the selection of Gavin M. Wax as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor. Additional appointments include Thomas W. Struble as Senior Legal Advisor and Anne M. Urban as Confidential Assistant. Wax will serve as the Commissioner’s principal advisor, supporting a pro-growth, pro-innovation agenda through strategic guidance, policy development, national security initiatives, and external engagement.
All across the country, a group of connectivity experts teaches locals, old and young, about the benefits of getting online. These workers, called Digital Navigators, link people in the community with the resources and opportunities they don't know exist, like arranging online health appointments, applying for jobs, doing homework and making their businesses visible on the internet.
