Safelink Internet submitted a quarterly report regarding its progress toward the 20 percent interim service milestone for its Rural Digital Opportunity Fund authorization in Nevada, Study Area Code 559032. Safelink has deployed and verified qualifying voice and broadband service to 296 locations in its Nevada RDOF service area, approximately 10.86 percent of the locations required by the milestone. Safelink’s broader Nevada fiber construction program, which began in 2021 and reached substantial completion in 2026, covered approximately 14,500 locations in the state.

Valley Communications Association is a Connect America Fund Phase II auction winner that was required to serve 100 percent of its locations in Nevada by December 31, 2025. Valley’s Total Buildout Target is 83, and its latest High Cost Universal Broadband portal submission for 2025 indicates that Valley serves 61 locations, or 73.49 percent of the required build-out locations. Valley notified the Federal Communications Commission that the company has not met its 100 percent service milestone and plans to come into full compliance in 2026. 

Commnet Wireless submitted a Connect America Fund (CAF) Phase II build-out status notification for locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada. Commnet was required to deploy 100 percent of its authorized locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada by December 31, 2025. Commnet’s initial data, which the company is continuing to review, shows that as of December 31, 2025, Commnet may not have reached the CAF Phase II deployment milestone in Arizona, and has not met the milestone in Colorado, Nevada or New Mexico.

Governor Joe Lombardo announced the submission of Nevada’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Final Proposal to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration for formal approval.

More than 36 Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program draft final proposals have been released by states and territories. In these plans, each state is deciding how to connect its un- and underserved locations before submitting its final proposals to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for approval. Through these draft final proposals, we are seeing how states have adjusted their broadband deployment activities as a result of the BEAD Program restructuring and the Benefit of the Bargain application round.

Network development and information infrastructure professional services provider Tilson Technology Management has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against networking firm Gigapower in which it seeks more than $200 million it claims to be owed for building networks in Nevada and Arizona. Tilson says that Gigapower breached a contract between the two companies and owes Tilson for termination charges, underpayments, and missed payments.

Sen Jacky Rosen (D-NV) said she plans to slow-walk Commerce Department nominees that oversee broadband in response to the agency rescinding approval of her state’s $416 million broadband expansion plan. The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration under Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick released its revised rules for the $42.45 billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program.

The Trump administration has rescinded its final approval for Nevada to use its nearly half-billion-dollar broadband award, further delaying the state’s plan to achieve universal high-speed internet and speed up internet service for areas, including rural ones, plagued by slow connections.

The latest stakeholder to send a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is Sky Fiber Internet, the largest Nevada Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment awardee in the rural broadband funding program. In the letter, the company urged Lutnick to expedite contract finalization and issue guidance so construction can begin. “Delays not only risk higher costs and lost labor but also erode public confidence in what is arguably the most ambitious and promising broadband investment in our nation’s history,” said Sky Fiber Internet CEO Garry Gomes in the letter.
