The Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program has public disclosure and comment requirements to facilitate community engagement and input into each State and Territory’s plans and proposals for using grant funds. Under Commerce Secretary Lutnick’s leadership, our Benefit of the Bargain reforms restored the program to its statutory objective: universal connectivity delivered through competition, accountability, and respect for the law.  The result has been lower costs for taxpayers, real skin in the game for providers, and faster broadband access for consumers. States, freed from unlawful one-size-fits-all mandates, could evaluate projects on a granular basis and select those that truly fit their needs.

The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced the approval of Texas’ Final Proposal to deliver universal broadband access throughout the state through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program. The announcement makes Texas the 19th Final Proposal approved to date. Nineteen states and territories have been approved by NTIA, generating savings of $8 billion. In total, 53 of the 56 states and territories have submitted Final Proposals.

The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) approved 18 Final Proposals to deliver universal broadband access through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. NTIA claims these states saw a surge in participation, competition, and private sector matching contributions—driving down costs, increasing skin in the game, and advancing innovative solutions for consumers.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration conducted a national landscape analysis to understand how 9-1-1 Centers are engaging with AI and other emerging technologies.

The Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced that it is working on reforms across its Tribal broadband programs to reduce red tape for Tribal governments, promote flexibility, and align NTIA’s grant opportunities to better serve Tribal connectivity.

Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information Arielle Roth delivered remarks at the Americas Spectrum Management Conference on October 30. She spoke about the three core principles of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's spectrum policy. "First, spectrum policy shouldn’t be zero-sum: Just as the One Big Beautiful Bill pipeline advances win-wins for federal and commercial users, we must ensure that our work on one service doesn’t take away from our attention to others. In the 6G era of convergence, we need more spectrum access for everyone.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information Adam Cassady spoke at NVIDIA GTC on October 29. He spoke about National Telecommunications and Information Administration priorities, including 6G and artificial intelligence. "In AI, NTIA’s vision is just that of the Administration’s: we want the United States-led AI to power the future. Of work, of recreation, of life. And second, and more specifically at NTIA: We want to ensure that the United States leads, together with secure and trusted global partners, in the next generation of connectivity, 6G.
