The Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Broadband Institute, a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, announced $1,492,571 in awards to 10 public and affordable housing organizations to help residents access the internet, learn digital skills, and make practical use of online tools in their daily lives.

The Healey-Driscoll Administration and Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s (MassTech) Massachusetts Broadband Institute awarded a combined $7,581,940 to 37 housing organizations in support of digital skills training, device access and other services that help residents secure access to and benefit from the internet.

The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) unveiled a new Infrastructure Progress Dashboard to provide up-to-date information for ongoing broadband infrastructure projects. This dashboard is part of MBI’s effort to achieve increased accessibility and transparency for broadband investments and will record projects funded through the U.S. Treasury Capital Projects Fund (CPF).

The Healey-Driscoll Administration and Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Massachusetts Broadband Institute have awarded $4,457,546 to 61 Massachusetts communities as part of the Municipal Digital Equity Implementation Program. The program helps cities and towns expand internet access, purchase devices, boost digital skills training, and increase community engagement to close the digital divide.

On July 11, the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) opened the required Benefit of the Bargain grant solicitation with the goal of submitting Massachusetts' BEAD Final Proposal by Thursday, September 4. The solicitation included eligible broadband serviceable locations (BSLs) and community anchor institutions (CAIs). The solicitation included required changes to the Subgrantee Selection Process. The grant application deadline was July 31, 2025. Public comment for the draft of the Massachusetts BEAD Final Proposal opened on Wednesday, August 27 and closed on Wednesday, September 3.

The Healey-Driscoll administration and Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Massachusetts Broadband Institute awarded $31,548,018 to four internet service providers to increase internet access for affordable and public housing residents statewide.

The Healey-Driscoll administration and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s (MassTech) Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) announced $22,260,701 in grants to upgrade internet access for 15,793 affordable housing units across 54 communities in Massachusetts. MBI provided the awards through the Residential Retrofit Program, an initiative that works with housing operators and internet service providers (ISPs) to upgrade broadband infrastructure in public and affordable housing properties.

TEK Collaborative Founder and Director Jeff Williams started the nonprofit in 2021 to refurbish and distribute desktop computers and laptops to those in need and expand digital equity across Massachusetts.
