It is important to recognize that the fundamental idea of artificial intelligence is a falsehood. There is no such thing as artificial intelligence, and in fact, I will suggest that the very phrase is an oxymoron. If we understand what “artificial intelligence” is, we’ll be free from its deceptions, free to cultivate true intelligence in ourselves and others. Because so many of us do not understand how computers work, and because the mechanical processes are hidden from view, the process of imitating the products of human intelligence feels almost like real intelligence.

President Joe Biden announced that his administration would spend more than $42 billion to expand high-speed internet access across the US. The White House estimates the program will help over 8.5 million households and small businesses.

Worcester County (MD) will work with three internet service providers as it uses grant funds to expand rural broadband. The county will use $7.1 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to work with three internet service providers––Bay Country Communications, Choptank Fiber and Talkie Communications––currently bringing high-speed internet to unserved parts of the county.

Local officials say a partnership between Wicomico County (MD) and an internet service provider is expected to help expand broadband access to unserved areas. In a meeting of the Wicomico County Council in mid-January 2022, Acting County Executive John Psota announced a non-legally binding partnership with Talkie Communications, a Chestertown (MD)-based internet service provider, to secure state grant funding for broadband infrastructure projects.
