In her latest research note, Needham & Co. analyst Laura Martin reported the results of a simple request she made of 300 respondents in October: “Please list which TV channels you must have available online for you to turn off your TV subscription.”
The results contain a few surprises: 1) The Big Four broadcast TV networks hold the top four spots in the survey, 2) HBO subscribers really love their HBO -- even though less than one-third of all US homes subscribe, HBO placed behind the Big Four and just three other cable channels, and 3) Don't doubt the value of ESPN.
