Tennessee: Administration Backpedals on Broadband Proposal

Governor Phil Bredesen (D-TN)'s administration is backpedaling on its proposal to let Chattanooga's Electric Power Board and other municipal electric services expand their advanced broadband offerings outside the areas they currently serve. Senate Minority Leader Jim Kyle (D-Memphis) said Tuesday night he plans to delete the proposal from the administration's "omnibus" budget bill that he presents to the Senate Finance Committee.
