Sens Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) led a letter to Department of Justice (DOJ) Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim on potential political interference in the T-Mobile and Sprint merger investigations. Recent reports indicate that senior White House officials may be attempting to insert their views into the Antitrust Division’s investigation into the proposed merger of T-Mobile and Sprint. Joining Sens Klobuchar and Blumenthal on the letter were Sens Tom Udall (D-NM), Ed Markey (D-MA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Cory Booker (D-NJ). In the letter, the senators asked Assistant Attorney General Delrahim about any efforts by President Donald Trump or his associates to influence the Justice Department’s review of the T-Mobile/Sprint transaction and to provide any and all communications between the White House and DOJ related to the merger.
