Online literary magazine Rumpus sows community

The Rumpus launched its beta site in December 2008 with a definitive statement about its intentions: "All the major online magazines are focusing on the exact same stories. The Rumpus is not worried about being the first to break the news. We care about good writing, and we'll publish essays just because the writing is good." This philosophy compelled well-known writers like Rick Moody, Steve Almond and Jerry Stahl to become founding columnists for the Rumpus.
