NTCA Statement on IP Transition
NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association welcomes Chairman Wheeler's announcement of the commission's intent to move quickly in considering and implementing paths to help promote and sustain the ongoing technological evolution. As our 2012 petition on this topic highlighted, core principles related to universal service, competition and protection of consumers must be seen as cornerstones of any regulatory reviews, trials or structured observations of technical trends underway.
NTCA's members have already made great strides in helping to ensure rural consumers can participate meaningfully in an IP-evolved world, but more remains to be done. These small entrepreneurs are excited about the opportunity to build upon their progress to date and to fulfill the fundamental mission of universal service in collaboration with the FCC and other stakeholders.
