Google Alerts British News Outlets About Deleting Their Links

A week after Google started to remove links to online content in Europe, some examples of the type of information that is to be taken down have started to emerge. A number of British media outlets, including the BBC and The Guardian, say that they have received notification from Google explaining which of their online articles will no longer show up in European online searches. (The links, however, are still available on Google) The links include an article about Stan O’Neal, the former chief of the investment bank Merrill Lynch, and articles related to a Scottish soccer referee. It is unclear whether the individuals specifically mentioned in the articles asked for links to the information to be removed, or whether others had submitted requests to Google.
