Corporation for Public Broadcasting Funds Expanded Video Capacity at Five Local Journalism Collaborations
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced it has awarded grants totaling $2 million to allow five Local Journalism Collaborations (LJC) to add video elements to their reporting.
The five LJCs -- EarthFix, OPB; Fronteras, KPBS; Harvest Public Media, Nebraska Network; Innovation Trail, WXXI; and Inside Energy, Rocky Mountain PBS -- will create video journalism teams at each location. Each team will be led by a unit manager who will provide editorial oversight and continuity, as well as help facilitate collaboration and sharing across the LJCs. The video teams will create high quality video news and feature stories for broadcast and web use locally. Segments will also be produced for national programs such as the PBS NewsHour and will help stations to localize the two minute cutaway within PBS NewsHour Weekend.
