Apple: We Didn’t Give FBI Any Device IDs

Apple has finally weighed in on hacker group AntiSec’s claims that it has obtained millions of unique device identifiers for Apple devices (UDIDs) from an Federal Bureau of Investigation laptop. The gist of its comment: If the FBI has iPhone and iPad UDIDs, it didn’t get them from us. “The FBI has not requested this information from Apple, nor have we provided it to the FBI or any organization. Additionally, with iOS 6 we introduced a new set of APIs meant to replace the use of the UDID and will soon be banning the use of UDID,” Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris said.
