Who Does the News Believe?

Free Press’ Alicia Bell will be talking with journalists, advocates and policy experts about how to challenge and change a media that normalizes White supremacy in the Trump era. 

The news has incredible power to influence how we think and react to the world around us. With this comes a responsibility to disseminate truth and challenge the powers that be. 

We need a free press. We also need a press that doesn’t replicate the racist and xenophobic stereotypes about communities of color and immigrants that make up the Trump administration’s talking points. We need journalism that calls racism what it is, disavows White nationalism and empowers the voices of journalists and editors of color as well as the communities being reported on.
