The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), tasked with protecting American consumers, faces many new issues in antitrust and consumer protection. With the technological advances of the digital age, the intersection of data privacy and innovation markets is a new frontier for the FTC. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, the European Commission is looking at the power of digital platforms. How will these issues affect global markets and the flow of data across borders?

On February 1, Governance Studies at Brookings will host an event with FTC Commissioner Terrell McSweeny to discuss emerging issues of data and competition in the United States and internationally.

After the session, the commissioner will take audience questions.
