Many phone carriers are phasing out older phone technology and replacing it with a service called interconnected Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) – a service that makes calls using the internet. In fact, the majority of phone calls made today – approximately 70% – are made using VOIP.

But, unless the Federal Communications Commission takes action to classify VOIP as a Title II service, the ability to make certain that consumers have access to phone service that works when they need it, can call 911 for help or can receive assistance to help pay for phone service will disappear.

Join us for a discussion about the ongoing transition to VOIP technology, how the transition will impact consumers’ ability to communicate, and what the FCC can do to protect the public.
