The Federal Communications Commission adopted an Order to enhance unlicensed use in the 6 gigahertz (GHz) band. The FCC will create a new category of unlicensed devices—geofenced variable power devices—that can operate both indoors and outdoors at higher power than previously authorized devices. Amazon is in talks to invest up to $50 billion in OpenAI, in what would be a giant bet on the hot artificial intelligence (AI) startup. The ChatGPT maker is seeking up to $100 billion in new capital from investors, a round that could value it at as much as $830 billion. Investing tens of billions of dollars in OpenAI could make Amazon the biggest contributor in the AI company’s ongoing fundraising round.

Four States Fiber notified the Federal Communications Commission of its decision to partially default on certain Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF)-funded Census Block Groups (CBGs) in Arkansas and Louisiana. Four States Fiber has faced multiple setbacks, which led the company to make the difficult decision to partially default on its RDOF obligations in Arkansas and Louisiana. Four States Fiber understands that by defaulting on the CBGs, it will no longer be entitled to receive further RDOF funding in these CBGs and that it may be subject to the FCC’s applicable non-compliance rules.
