Ripple Fiber Agrees to Acquire BridgeNET Fiber, Strengthening its North Carolina Footprint

Ripple Fiber, a fiber optic network builder and operator headquartered in Charlotte (NC), will acquire BridgeNET Fiber. Ripple Fiber is partnering with BridgeNET’s ownership team to expand the network throughout Statesville (NC), where the provider is headquartered. BridgeNET will continue to operate the market and will be empowered with the capital and a toolset to support rapid expansion.

Mobile Experts: T-Mobile fiber growth is a boost to its FWA

More fiber infrastructure could be a boon to T-Mobile’s still-growing fixed wireless access (FWA) business. “T-Mobile’s access to fiber will increase their ability to provide FWA,” said Mobile Experts Principal Joe Madden. Not only is fiber good for the backhaul fixed wireless requires, but T-Mobile can still deploy FWA in cases where it’d be too expensive to run fiber all the way to the home. “It’s the last 100 feet from the curb to the house that creates more than 80% of the cost for a fiber-to-the-home service,” he explained.

Trump’s broadband program overhaul favors Musk tech, strips low-cost plans

The Trump administration released revised rules for the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program, stripping the Biden-era effort of many key requirements and making it easier for Elon Musk’s company to win grants. Under the revised guidelines, the BEAD Program will take a technology-neutral approach to expanding broadband access rather than focusing on fiber internet.
