Gov. Evers Urges Trump Administration to Prevent Delays in Funding for High-Speed Internet Infrastructure Projects Across Wisconsin

I write today to underscore the importance of the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program to Wisconsin. Our state has already spent tremendous time and effort to achieve the shared goals of the BEAD Program. I urge NTIA not to delay our states’ efforts at this final, critical stage, but to use the program review to create efficiencies that will accelerate broadband deployment to unserved Wisconsin residents.

Illinois Ports Fear BEAD Slowdown

The Illinois Waterway (ILWW) Ports Commission is a special government district serving ten rural, riverfront counties in Central and North Central Illinois. ILWW recently wrote to members of the Illinois Congressional delegation to stress that rural Illinois residents have gone too long without adequate broadband access. "The ILWW Ports Commission simply cannot be a modern, sustainable, rural, regional, multi-modal, inland port without broadband access.

Rep Valadao Introduces Legislation to Improve Access to Healthcare in Rural Communities

Congressman David Valadao (R-CA-22) and Congressman Adam Gray (D-CA-13) introduced the Telehealth Network and Telehealth Resource Centers Grant Program Reauthorization Act. This bipartisan bill would provide investment in rural healthcare by reauthorizing the telehealth network and telehealth resource centers grant programs through Fiscal Year 2030.

Sens Blackburn, Blumenthal, Thune, and Schumer Introduce the Kids Online Safety Act

Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Richard Blumenthal(D-CT) were joined by U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in introducing the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). In July 2024, the Senate approved KOSA – the first major reform to the tech industry since 1998 – in an overwhelming 91-3 bipartisan vote. This bill sets out requirements to protect minors from online harms.
