Local governments increasingly see before them exciting new opportunities to develop next-generation broadband in their communities—and to reap the many benefits that broadband will deliver to their residents and businesses.

President Trump creates tech advisory council

President Donald Trump signed an executive order creating a new technology council to help advise the government on streamlining its IT operations. The American Technology Council will be run by Chris Liddell, an assistant to the president and former CFO of Microsoft. The council will meet with Silicon Valley leaders sometime in June to discuss ideas on modernizing government operations. The council is part of Trump senior adviser Jared Kushner’s White House Office of Innovation, which was established in March to try to streamline government operations.

FirstNet and AT&T: The First 30 Days

The week of May 1 marks FirstNet’s first month in a public-private partnership with AT&T, working with its team of Motorola Solutions, General Dynamics, Sapient Consulting and Inmarsat Government on the successful deployment of the Network. Together, we've had an extremely productive month collaborating on a number of priorities, such as State Plans and the development of an online portal that will be used to deliver the plans to the states and territories. We have also had initial discussions regarding the FirstNet core network architecture.

Five Rule Changes the FCC Should Consider
