Comcast, NBC Universal sign diversity agreement with Hispanic groups

Comcast and NBC Universal (NBCU) have signed an agreement with leaders of Hispanic community organizations on diversity commitments to be met when the two companies merge.

The deal commits the pair to naming a Latino to Comcast's board of directors in the next two years, launching a new Spanish-language multicast channel on Telemundo's digital broadcast spectrum, increasing contributions to Latino scholarship and internship programs, increasing the number of Hispanic employees, and increasing the percentage of business conducted with Latino-owned vendors. Groups signing on to the agreement include the National Hispanic Media Coalition, the National Council of La Raza, and the League of United American Citizens.
