The U.S. Department of Commerce and its component bureaus are responsible for the stewardship, protection, and scientific understanding of our ocean environment and its resources, effective use and growth of the nation’s technological resources, and promoting U.S. trade and tourism. The oversight hearing will examine the Department’s effectiveness in implementing these goals.

The FCC will hold an open meeting Tuesday July 31 and will consider two items: rules for an upcoming spectrum auction and the roaming obligations of Commercial Mobile Radio Service. Commissioners will consider a Second Report and Order concerning rules governing wireless licenses in the 698 MHz-806 MHz Band, which is spectrum currently occupied by television broadcasters in TV Channels 52-69 and that will be made available for wireless services, including public safety and commercial services.
