The Digital Divide Index

is a number from o to 100 designed to jump-start critical conversations regarding the digital divide. This webinar will review the concept of the digital divide and how it was measured for this particular index. Results from the index will also be discussed in an effort to make it easier to interpret and use the index.

Speaker: Roberto Gallardo

Roberto Gallardo (pronounced GaYardo) is an Associate Extension Professor of the Mississippi State University Extension Service (MSUES).

He holds an engineering degree, a master's in economic development, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration. Gallardo has worked with rural communities over the past ten years conducting local & regional community economic development, including use of technology for development purposes. He spearheads the efforts of the MSU Extension Intelligent Community Institute that helps rural communities transition to, plan for, and prosper in the digital age and is the author of the book “Responsive Countryside: The Digital Age & Rural Communities.”
