The Sorry State of In-Flight Wi-Fi

[Commentary] I’ve finally found something on commercial flights that’s worse than airplane food: the Wi-Fi. It’s so slow and unreliable that it shouldn’t be allowed to call itself “Wi-Fi.” Renaming it Airplane Dial-Up would be unfair to dial-up. I understand that it’s expensive to build the infrastructure to get Internet in the sky. There are satellites and cell towers and hundreds of technicians. But maybe it’s time for the airlines and Internet providers to lower prices until the service improves.

Or, even better, offer it free.
