On Monday, November 4, 2013 US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker issued a statement on the appointment of Barry Boniface to the FirstNet Board.

“The FirstNet Board has been working hard toward implementing a nationwide wireless broadband network that enables our first responders to better respond to emergencies and save lives,” said Secretary Penny Pritzker. “With more than two decades of business and management experience in the telecom industry, I believe Barry Boniface will be a great addition to FirstNet.”

Barry Boniface has more than two decades of business and corporate management experience with particular focus on building, expanding and financing communications companies. He is currently a partner with MSouth Equity Partners, a middle market private equity firm, where he is investing in and assisting in the growth of a number of middle market companies throughout the US.

First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) is an independent entity within the US Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), with members appointed by the Secretary of Commerce to serve three-year terms, with the purpose of providing emergency responders with the first high-speed, nationwide network dedicated to public safety.
