Sun-Times Media Holdings LLC is getting out of the printing business, outsourcing its remaining newspaper printing to Tribune Company.

Chicago-based Sun-Times Media said Tribune will print and package its Chicago Sun-Times newspaper and its seven suburban daily papers. The papers will be printed at the Tribune's Freedom Center facility in Chicago. The Sun-Times reports the move will cost Sun-Times Media 400 jobs. The Tribune will hire 100 employees to handle the new work and they could choose some of the Sun-Times personnel. Sun-Times CEO Jeremy Halbreich says it will save Sun-Times Media more than $10 million annually. Tribune is already distributing the Sun-Times papers and another outside vendor prints the Sun-Times Pioneer Press weekly suburban papers.
