Strengthening US cybersecurity in the digital age
In the past year, hackers have infiltrated tens of thousands of organizations worldwide — including US government agencies. And recently, a ransomware attack on a major pipeline caused a gas shortage in the eastern US.
Russia and China have been blamed often, but perpetrators are not always state affiliated. The Joe Biden administration has issued a review of US cyber vulnerabilities and an executive order to improve cybersecurity. But beyond reviewing known problems, Congress and the White House must work closely with government agencies and industry experts to create real solutions to prevent these catastrophic disruptions.
