As cities and counties nationwide begin to harness American Rescue Plan funds to deploy broadband in underserved neighborhoods, a new report—authored by CTC Technology & Energy and commissioned by the Communications Workers of America (CWA)—details key public-private partnership strategies that have proven successful in enabling localities’ ability to expand broadband in rural and other overlooked communities.

The report, The Era of the Broadband Public-Private Partnership: New Trends and Opportunities in the Wake of Covid-19,” comes on the heels of the recently passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which allocates $42 billion in new federal funding for broadband deployment and requires states and localities to collaborate on five-year action plans to further bridge the digital divide.

CTC President Joanne Hovis—joined by several well-known and respected industry speakers— will host the first broadband webinar of 2022 to discuss the number of practical and strategic issues local governments should be considering as they plan to take advantage of these opportunities.

Webinar panelists include:

  • Matt Wood, President of Communications Workers of America Local 3411 and CWA Broadband Advocacy Lead for the Southeast
  • Mayor Alan K. Weiss, City of Greendale, IN
  • Jeff Luong, President, Broadband Access and Adoption Initiatives at AT&T
  • Joanne Hovis, President, CTC Technology & Energy
