Time Warner Plans Caution in Bidding For Weather Channel

Time Warner is interested in buying The Weather Channel as a companion for its CNN news network but will be "extremely price disciplined and price sensitive" in the auction for it, Chief Financial Officer John Martin told investors.

Apparently, the Tribune Company is closing in on an agreement to sell its Long Island newspaper Newsday to News Corp. for about $580 million. Final details are being hammered out and a deal could yet fall apart, but Tribune and News Corp.
