Ultimately, the commitments are about our shared goal to put the US at the forefront of 5G innovation, driving massive economic growth, helping bridge the Digital Divide, creating more competition, and of course, giving consumers and businesses more for less.

T-Mobile is lighting up new 5G spectrum won in Auction 108

T-Mobile announced it’s adding new capacity to the country’s leading 5G network by activating the 2.5 GHz spectrum it won in auction 108, expanding its Ultra Capacity 5G coverage to new communities and significantly increasing Ultra Capacity 5G bandwidth in many places across the US. That means tens of millions of the Un-carrier’s 5G customers, primarily those in rural areas, will get an immediate performance boost when spectrum comes online. Wondering if you will get a taste of the added capacity? The answer is very likely a resounding yes.

T-Mobile reports 557,000 high-speed internet customer additions in third quarter 2023 earnings

T-Mobile released its third-quarter earnings for 2023. The company reported postpaid net account additions of 386,000 and postpaid net customer additions of 1.2 million, a decrease of 401,000 year-over-year. The company's postpaid phone net customer additions totaled 850,000. T-Mobile saw 557,000 high-speed internet customer additions, a decrease of 21,000 year-over-year. Total net customer additions were listed as 1.3 million, which decreased by 427,000 year-over-year. The total customer count increased to a company-record high of 117.9 million.

T-Mobile Announces 300 Million User 5G Coverage Milestone

T-Mobile has achieved its year-end goal of covering 300 million people with Ultra Capacity 5G ahead of schedule. With additional network enhancements made, T-Mobile’s overall 5G footprint has expanded as well, now covering more than 330 million people or 98 percent of the population. Currently, more than 116 million people are relying on T-Mobile’s network nationwide. "We have been leaders in the 5G era from the start, deploying the largest, fastest, most awarded and most advanced 5G network in the country faster than anyone else," said Ulf Ewaldsson, President of Technology at T-Mobile.

Let’s Put Spectrum to Use Now for American Consumers

To maintain American leadership in the global 5G economy, the wireless industry must keep deploying more spectrum for consumers. It’s as simple as that. At T-Mobile, we have a record of putting our spectrum to good use quickly, now covering 326 million Americans with 5G service, 285 million of whom are covered by Ultra Capacity 5G. But in 2023, the government has not been doing its part to keep the pipeline flowing and action is needed. In 2022, the Federal Communication Commission completed Auction 108.

T-Mobile has long been a participant in the Federal Communications Commission's spectrum auctions, which the Commission has used for 30 years to rapidly assign licenses. These auctions fuel the U.S. economy—they’ve returned $233 billion to taxpayers so far, and once armed with this spectrum, wireless companies have spent another $635 billion building out networks.

T-Mobile US reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2022 results, delivering industry-leading postpaid service revenue and cash flow growth in 2022, enabling the Un-carrier to begin shareholder returns earlier than planned. T-Mobile further extended its fame for value while translating its 5G lead into overall network leadership for the first time, resulting in the company’s lowest ever annual postpaid phone churn along with industry-best and record high postpaid account, postpaid customer and broadband customer growth in 2022.

2022 State of Fixed Wireless Access

Insights about the current state of fixed wireless access (FWA) and T-Mobile’s more than two million broadband customers.  In the third quarter of 2022, T-Mobile welcomed its two millionth internet customer, doubling its total number of customers in just six months, making T-Mobile the fastest-growing internet provider for the last four quarters in a row. FWA is growing by more than 70% across all providers since Q1 of this year. Over the last year, the broadband industry’s growth has come almost entirely from fixed wireless. And that shift is expected to continue.

T-Mobile is expanding the footprint of its 5G Home Internet service across Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, where millions are still without access to high-speed internet.
