COMMERCIAL MOBILE SERVICE ALERT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has appointed persons to serve as members of the Commission's Commercial Mobile Service Alert Advisory Committee; Martin will serve as Committee chair. The Committee will develop and recommend technical standards and protocols to facilitate the voluntary transmission of emergency alerts by Commercial Mobile Service (CMS) providers. The Committee's recommendations must be submitted to the Commission within one year from the date of enactment of the WARN Act (i.e., October 12, 2007). The Committee includes representatives from state and local governments, tribal governments, communications service providers, vendors, developers, manufacturers, commercial and noncommercial broadcasters, the disability community, FEMA and other organizations. The Committee will meet Tuesday December 12.
