The Federal Communications Commission's National Broadband Plan recommends development of a public-private partnership to provide technology training and tools for small, disadvantaged businesses and small and medium sized enterprises in low-income areas. The Plan found that broadband can be a transformational force for these businesses and their surrounding communities. On Wednesday, a partnership will be announced between the Small Business Administration, SBA's volunteer arm, known as SCORE, and key private partners. FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski will attend the event and give remarks. The partners will discuss plans for training, technical support, low-cost equipment and business applications, and other measures to help make these businesses competitive in the digital age and provide jobs in their communities.

  • Julius Genachowski, Chairman, FCC
  • Karen Mills, Administrator, Small Business Administration
  • Ken Yancey, CEO, SCORE
  • Representatives from AT&T, Best Buy, Cisco, Constant Contact, Google, HP, Intuit, Microsoft, Skype, and Time Warner Cable Business Class.
