Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will hold a public meeting regarding the from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007, at the U.S. Department of Commerce Auditorium, 1401 Constitution Avenue, N.W.,Washington, D.C. A Federal Register Notice will be posted soon providing additional information.

The is a $1 billion program to provide state, local and federal first responders with funds to improve interoperability communications. The program, which covers public safety agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and four U.S. territories, will assist public safety agencies in the acquisition of, deployment of, or training for the use of interoperable communications systems that can utilize reallocated public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz band for radio communication.
